Adult Ed Recognizes Achievements

Seventh Annual Student Recognition Breakfast

Friday, August 25th marked the 7th Annual Student Recognition Breakfast of the Adult Education Program (AEP). Approximately sixty students and tutors were in attendance.

Adult Education Program Coordinator, Kelly Hansen, began the program with words of welcome. Assistant Director Cathy Ann Vandegrift then congratulated the AEP students and Bill Stone, Americorps intern, offered an invocation. Keynote speaker, Arlene Stinson, Director of Academic Support Services at MCCC, inspired listeners to continue to help one another with the words, "Greatness is possible, but you cannot do anything great alone. You have made the brave decision to go back to school and change your life. You have all done something great, but none of you have done it alone."

One of the highlights of the morning was the opportunity to receive a professional portrait by photographer and volunteer tutor David Ticktin. Students were very excited and many came in their finest attire. With an assistant, professional equipment, and backdrop he offered each student a free portrait. Some students chose to be photographed with their tutors. Each student picked out a frame for their picture as well. As you can see, the portraits came out extremely well. The event was a great success and was enjoyed by all.
