Thanksgiving
2006
Ten volunteers arrived at TASK at 8:30 a.m. to
join our kitchen staff who arrived at 6 a.m.
to begin preparations of our Thanksgiving meal.
Additional shifts of 40 volunteers arrived at
10 a.m. and at Noon.
Patrons attending received a delicious hot meal
of turkey, stuffing, yams, salad, cornbread,
vegetable, cranberry relish, choice of fruit,
and sweet potato pie. Beverages choices included
fruit punch, coffee, tea and hot chocolate. We
served approximately 400 patrons during the 10:30
a.m. to 1 p.m. time period.
When leaving, each patron received an additional
duplicate hot meal, a lunch bag to go and a bag
of candy.
After the initial rush, patrons were able to
relax a bit and enjoy a second piece of pie and
an additional beverage.
We thank all those who donated turkeys and additional
food items. Your donations made our Thanksgiving
dinner a very special occasion. And a very big
thank you to all the volunteers who shared their
Thanksgiving in the service of others.
