TASK ENTERS INTO PARTNERSHIP WITH DIVINE MERCY PARISHThe Trenton Area Soup Kitchen (TASK) began providing hot dinner meals once a week at the First Baptist Church (FBC) in January 2003. One year later, the program was expanded to include three evening meals at FBC. On May 10th TASK began providing meals for a fourth night in the South Ward. The meals will be served every Thursday at Divine Mercy Parish. Divine Mercy Parish, located at 201 Adeline Street, was incorporated in 2005 with the merger of the Roman Catholic congregations of St. Stanislaus Church, Holy Cross Church, and Saint Peter and Paul Church. The new parish is lead by Rev. Msgr. Edward J. Arnister and ministers to the multi-cultural demographics of English, Polish, and Spanish speaking peoples of the South Ward. Prepared meals will be delivered to Divine Mercy Parish in containers that will keep them warm. Dinner will be served from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm by volunteers from the Divine Mercy Parish. “This expansion of our feeding effort is part of TASK’s on-going effort to do whatever we can to provide meals to those who are hungry and unable to get to our main facility located on Escher Street,” indicates Dennis Micai, TASK’s Executive Director. “We applaud the parishioners of Divine Mercer Parish for making their facility to help alleviate hunger in the South Ward.
