Holiday Express visits TASK

Each December, the patrons, staff and volunteers of TASK are treated to an incredible holiday party presented by Holiday Express.

Created in 1993 by Tim McLoone, a Jersey Shore muscian and restauranteur, Holiday Express is "...a traveling Christmas party, a from-the-heart troupe of volunteers that brings friendship, help, and hope to those who are too often left out in the cold at this most special time of the year."

Now in its eleventh season, Holiday Express is an all-volunteer, nonprofit, nonsectarian organization delivering

music, toys, clothing, food and fun to children with cancer, people living with AIDS, the mentally ill, disadvantaged families, the isolated elderly and the desperate homeless.

In addition to music, Holiday Express brings gift bags for everyone attending the meal. And this year, Comcast, our Holiday Express Corporate Sponsor, donated five Franklin Speaking Dictionaries to our Adult Education program.

In the words of TASK patron Diana Nesbitt and her 8-year-old son Edward, here is an expression of what Holiday Express means to TASK:

While struggling throughout the year,
Not completely sure of what life will bring,
There is one thought hat helps to keep us going.
And that is knowing, that one one special day,
Holiday Express will be there.
And for two blissful hours,
There will be no cares and no worries.
Our hearts will be filled with joy and happiness,
As all of our senses are treated to the wonders of Christmans.
Thank you, Holiday Express, and Happy Holidays to you!
