20 ways to help TASK
The A-TEAM continues to grow. Five new artists have joined the group since January 2010, and a photography workshop has been added, thanks to the participation of new volunteers Alan Goldsmith and Gabriel Romeu, who is also photographing and archiving all incoming A-TEAM artwork. Even A-TEAM artists who no longer reside in Trenton like RavenFeather and William Hodges, who have moved to North Carolina, and John Hendryx, who has moved to Florida, continue to send their artwork to TASK for display and sale and return for visits whenever possible.
So far in 2010, the A-TEAM has had shows at the Gourgaud Gallery in Cranbury; Educational Testing Service in Princeton and the Gallery at New Jersey Network and Isles in Trenton. Art Day at TASK on April 24th, included a large exhibit of A-TEAM paintings, drawings, dolls, frames, 3-D found-object constructions, notecards, postcards and posters. The A-TEAM artists were delighted with the pleasure with which their artwork was received and the numerous sales they made and equally by the chance to visit with so many old and new friends of the A-TEAM and of TASK.
In addition to their outreach activities at ARC/Mercer where they teach a monthly art workshop for consumers with the able assistance of A-TEAM volunteer Hannah Fink, the A-TEAM artists have also been asked to host a workshop once a month for selected artists from the art therapy program of Trenton Psychiatric Hospital. The A-TEAM artists derive great satisfaction from being able to share their talents and enthusiasm for art with other members of the Trenton community.
