Ann Hamilton, Social
Worker, Retires
March 14th, 2008 marked the retirement of Ann Hamilton,
Social Worker stationed full-time at TASK. When TASK began
the Social Worker Program in June 2002, which subcontracted
Catholic Charities’ Social Workers/Case Managers to work
full-time at the soup kitchen, Ann was the first social
worker to work here.
Ann quickly built the trust of the patrons and her
caseload rose from eight clients each day to an average of
22 clients each day. In 2005, TASK subcontracted a second
social worker/case manager to help meet the needs of our
patrons.
Through her work at TASK, Ann has helped hundreds of
people with issues such as health, addiction, employment,
and housing. For everything needed from a listening ear to
clothes for a job interview, Ann has been there to provide.
Suburb work, Ann. Enjoy your retirement!

In my mind this is what America is all about
Esther came to the United States in December of 2005. She is from
Liberia, where women do not go to school. She became a student in the
TASK Adult Education Program (AEP) in October of 2007. This is her first
school. She is still learning how to read and write, but through the AEP
writer's weekly workshop, she wrote the following essay with some help
from her tutor, Lydia.
After almost exactly ten years, Cathy Ann Vandegrift -- "Mz Cathy" to
the patrons and staff -- will retire from TASK on Feb 1st.
Recruited by former Board member Susan Darley to be interim
director beginning in January 1998 while the Board did a search, Cathy
became the Assistant Director...
