Weekend Meal Service at Other Organizations
30 ways to help TASK
UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL
When Emilio Papa entered the TASK Dining Room on January 16th, it felt like the red carpet of a Hollywood awards show. The cameras flashed and the video cameras started rolling to capture the joy on the face of our humble honoree. As the FunkTASKtiks played the song "Stand by Me," Emilio made his way down a receiving line of patrons, fellow Board Members, local non-profit leaders, elected officials, neighbors, friends, and family; shaking hands, giving hugs and warmly greeting each individual in the crowd.
A TASK Board Member since 1995, for the past two decades Emilio has worked tirelessly to serve hungry Trenton residents.Emilio picks up food donated by local supermarkets and delivers it to an array of social service organizations and churches with programs that feed our neighbors in need.He helps serve meals, he volunteers with his church to give communion at St. Francis Medical Center, and he is a friend to every person he meets.Every few days when Emilio stops by TASK, he can always be found praising the hard work of the volunteers and staff, greeting new patrons, and catching up with old friends.
“We cannot think of a more appropriate name for our dining room,” says Dennis Micai, TASK Executive Director.“Emilio is such a warm and loving person, we hope that the atmosphere in our dining room will always exhibit those attributesas well.”
