People from throughout Mercer County will be asked to skip one or more meals on Wednesday, September 24th and donate the cost of the meal(s) to TASK. The focal point for the "Skip a meal for one day, and satisfy your hunger to help those who need it most" Campaign will be a series of public service announcements that will run in The Times from September 17th through September 23rd.
The Skip A Meal Campaign will suggest that those who give up breakfast make a $5 donation, those who give up lunch a $10 donation, those who give up dinner a $15 donation and those who give up a full day's meal and snacks a $50 donation. All donations to the campaign will be split equally between TASK and the Mercer Street Friends Food Bank.

"We really appreciate The Times willingness to once again support TASK as they have done so often in the past." In a recent letter to TASK donors, Dennis Micai, TASK's Executive Director, wrote that "the downturn in the economy has produced the 'perfect storm' for both TASK and our patrons. The price of food TASK purchases is up by more than 35% this year. The cost of filling a tank of gas for our van that picks up donated food at area stores and products supplied by the Mercer Street Friends Food Bank is up by more than 40%. Food donations from individuals and area food stores are down by more than 50%."

On September 24th you can help by giving up (a) meal(s) and sending your meal money to help those who are experiencing the pain and indignity of hunger in our community.
Last year, TASK served more than 175,000 meals to those in need. Our patrons are grateful for your support.
