From the Desk of the Executive DirectorHi [fname],
It’s fall and TASK has a lot to celebrate! 1.) We just received news that our organization is listed as a 2013 top rated non-profit! 2.) Thanks to one of our younger volunteers, the TASK yard has undergone a complete renovation . Not only does our landscaping look spectacular, but we now have new benches and tables for our patrons who like to eat outside. 3.) Students from our Adult Education Program learned about the 175 year history of Mercer County at the Howell Living History Farm. They also spent a few hours lost in a Corn Maze. Fortunately enough, all of our students found their way out of the maze in time for TASK’s afternoon tutoring sessions.
Lastly, TASK is in need of donations for our emergency food bags. These bags are a critical part of our meal service program, especially for our patrons with diabetic needs. We are seeking donations of Ramen Noodles, Cup O' Soups, Boxed Lipton Soups, canned tuna fish, granola bars, and crackers. We also are in need of hygiene products as we prepare for the winter season. To donate, please contact Charlie Orth at Charlieo@trentonsoupkitchen.org or 609-695-5456 ext#114. Your help is greatly appreciated.
TASK Listed as 2013 Top Rated Non-Profit

TASK Upgrades Its Grounds Thanks to Girl Scout!
In the month of September 2013, a junior from West Windsor Plainsboro High School South took on the good deed of constructing new benches, tables, planting flowers, and bringing pumpkins for the autumn season for our patrons to enjoy at TASK. Harshitha Gadangi, from Girl Scout troop 70207, worked with a collective team of friends, parents, project advisor & Girl Scout troop leader, employees from Merck Pharmaceutical & AAA, to put this project together. The group collected funds, ordered all the parts, and worked together to build brand new tables & benches the patrons can enjoy outside. Harshitha states, “I wanted to make a change here at the soup kitchen. I wanted to plant flowers to bring a happy environment, & build something permanent that would last”. And you sure did!!! Thank you again Harshitha. Our patrons absolutely love the upgrades!
Howell Living History Farm AEP Corn Maze Outing
Friday October 18th, students of the Adult Education Program (AEP) enjoyed an outing to the Howell Living History Farm Corn Maze. Several times a year, AEP students enjoy an educational and fun field trip to different sites. This year students, tutors, and staff had a great experience doing the maze. What beautiful weather, and what a great day! The day was both educational and fun. Thank you to our friends at Howell Living History Farm! Click here to enjoy pictures from the trip.
