Ways to Help TASK

1. Make a Financial Contribution:

  • Make a monthly donation in support of TASK’s on-going operations.
  • Make a one-time donation to The Keeping the Bowl Full Endowment Campaign.
  • Make an honorary or memorial contribution in celebration or commemoration of an occasion or individual.
  • Make a planned gift to TASK through the Princeton Area Community Foundation.
  • Include TASK in your will.
  • Make a gift of real estate, life insurance or stocks (your broker will need the following: Merrill Lynch DTC Number 5198 Account 876-04 D 74).
  • Designate your United Way donation to TASK. Enter TASK's name on the campaign card or use the following campaign codes: NJ Employee Charitable Campaign #6557 and Combined Federal Campaign #66659. TASK’s New Jersey Charitable Registration # is: CH0292500.
  • Include an employer matching gift form along with your donations.

2. Make an In-Kind Donation:

  • Donate personal hygiene items (toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, men's deodorant, razors, shampoo, shaving cream, lotions/moisturizers, sanitary napkins, tampons, combs, etc.); regular sizes preferred, but hotel sizes accepted. Donate one- gallon closeable plastic storage bags to hold the hygiene items.
  • Donate school supplies, paperback dictionaries, protractors, pens, pencils, calculators, or notebooks to the Adult Education Program (AEP).
  • Donate books and art supplies (paints, paint brushes, new or used canvases, stretchers, paper, etc.) or tickets to art exhibits or performances.
  • Donate socks (men's crew or tube socks) and reading glasses in assorted strengths.
  • Donate working computers, with Windows 7 operating system or newer, and flash drives, used or new.

3. Volunteer at TASK

  • Serve a meal from our Escher Street site Monday-Friday from 10:15am – 1:00pm or Monday-Thursday from 3:15pm – 5:00pm.
  • Serve dinner from our South Trenton satellite site at the First Baptist Church Monday – Wednesday from 4:30pm – 6:00pm.
  • Help prep for meals Monday–Wednesday 7:00am – 12:00pm.
  • Be a morning (9:00am - 11:00am) or afternoon (2:00pm - 4:00pm) tutor in literacy, math, and/or computer skills for GED training in our AEP.
  • Volunteer for the SHARE Project, our Performing Arts Outreach Program, Monday 11:00am – 1:00pm for music, and Thursday 11:30am – 1:00pm for creative writing.
  • Teach a computer class or help in other ways in TASK’s computer center.
  • Teach a workshop to the members of the SHARE project or A-Team or entertain TASK patrons with music, drama, etc.
  • Teach an educational or life skills class or lead a current events discussion group.
  • When Trenton area schools are closed, children are invited to spend their morning at TASK’s art room. Volunteer for TASK’s Kids’ Day-Off Program on school holidays and/or summer days by planning an art or craft activity for children who come for lunch (10:30am - 1:00pm).
  • Volunteer between Dec. 15 – 31. Help with holiday event planning by providing goodie bags, gifts, decorated cupcakes, cookies, or brownies to be distributed on holidays.

4. Off-Site Volunteering for TASK

  • Invite TASK to speak at a club, organization, school, or place of worship.
  • Wrap utensils for distribution at meals. Secure a plastic knife, fork, and teaspoon in a festive napkin with a bag tie, ribbon, or piece of yarn. Please be sure that the napkin covers the side of the utensils that touches the food and the yarn or ribbon is easily untied.
  • Donate food or conduct a food drive (non-perishable foods, tuna or chicken salad with crackers, macaroni, canned beef or turkey gravy, or canned veggies). No glass, please!
  • Bake desserts (cookies, cupcakes, brownies, etc.) or prepare take-home lunch bags (peanut butter & jelly sandwiches, fruit, dessert, & juice) to be given out at a meal.
  • Volunteer to chaperone patrons to offsite events/activities.
  • Write an article or take a photo for TASK’s newsletter or website, stuff/seal envelopes and/or sign letters.
