Trenton’s open studio tour and creative showcase returns with many new offerings

In Plain Sight Cover

TRENTON, N.J. – August 1, 2013 – Artists and art fans, mark your calendars for Saturday, November 9 when Trenton again throws open its doors for the second annual Art All Day open studio and creative space tour. This year, Art All Day, Artworks’ free celebration of creativity in the Capital City, will feature many new artist spaces and venues, plus a full roster of performances, activities and festivities, all more easily accessible than ever for attendees.

Continuous and expanded trolley tours, new installations and venues, and a full roster of performances at Artworks’ main Everett Alley space are just a few of the additions to Art All Day 2013. Returning from last year will be favorites such as special OnARoll art bike tours, SAGE Coalition’s Gandhi Garden and Windows of Soul, Trenton Area Soup Kitchen’s A-Team artists, and the AbOminOg Intl. molten iron sculpture collective.

TASK is one of the locations participating. Visit our “gallery” at 72 ½ Escher Street in Trenton to see the art of the A-TEAM Artists of Trenton and meet your favorite artist. Also, TASK will host performances of original poetry by The Share Project Performing Artists and live music by the FunkTASKtiks! Band.

“At Art All Day 2013 we are again offering the public a privileged peek into the workspaces of artists and craftspeople, innovative businesses and organizations, some old hands, some new transplants, who are collectively transforming Trenton from the State Capital into the Creative Capital of New Jersey,” said Art All Day Director and Artworks Board Member Lauren Otis. “With the wonderful extravaganza that is Art All Night, and now with Art All Day, Artworks is showcasing the creativity, resilience, energy and beauty that resides here, and belies the negative and defeatist headlines,” Mr. Otis added.

Studios, non-profits, pop-up spaces and creative businesses open their doors at 12 noon on Nov. 9th, offering visitors a special look into the creative processes of those who are putting Trenton on the map as an artistic hub. All attendees get free copies of the new Art All Day program/map, a work of art in its own right which enables them to take a free self-guided tour of Trenton’s art studios and public art. The open studio tour lasts until 5 p.m., followed by a reception from 5 to 8 p.m. at Artworks, where revelers can view an exhibit featuring the work of participating Art All Day artists.

Go to for information and to register as a participating artist or organization, or to volunteer. For regular updates and news “Like” Art All Day on Facebook. Artists working outside of Trenton who wish to participate are welcome and will be paired with a Trenton venue. Artworks, Trenton’s visual arts center, is located at 19 Everett Alley, Trenton, NJ 08611. Tel. 609-394-9436.
