TASK is seeking a Full-Time Computer Resource Assistant

This position will monitor the computer lab during business hours assisting students and soup kitchen patrons. Applicants should have level one troubleshooting experience and be familiar with common office PC hardware. This position will also help coordinate the technology education schedule for patrons.

Expected Achievements:

Patrons and Students are supported in developing PC skills:

  • Basic technology trainings/classes are delivered.
  • The Tests of Adult Basic Education (TABE) and other online assessments to Adult Education Program students are proctored.
  • AEP students receive help navigating through and getting familiar with the online test prep programs.
  • Open PC lab sessions are monitored.
  • Patrons are assisted with e-mail, basic questions about using the internet, logging in to typing tutor programs, and other online tasks as needed.
  • Patrons are assisted with basic smartphone apps (calendar, notes, reminders, accessibility features, etc.).
  • Collaborate with Adult Education and Work Preparedness staff to create technology education schedule.
  • Act as point of contact for patrons in search of technology assistance.

Equipment is maintained:

  • All lab hardware and software is maintained in working order.
  • Hardware and software issues for lab equipment are resolved; vendors are contacted as necessary.
  • Ensure that toner/ink cartridges, copy paper and related supplies for the Computer Labs are always in stock.
  • Donations of PC's are coordinated; donated PC's are prepared for designated patrons.
  • Internet and network connections for the Computer Labs are maintained.

Participate in Full Agency Administration:

  • Participate in full staff meetings.
  • Assist in maintaining a climate that attracts, supports, and retains motivated participants and volunteers.
  • Records are maintained, and reports are prepared as necessary for Board, funders or others.
  • Other related duties as assigned by the Coordinator, Adult Education

Community outreach

  • Strong relationships are developed and maintained with IT support vendor
  • TASK is represented in the community at events as assigned

Necessary Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to read and speak appropriately to fulfill the responsibilities of the position
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, communication and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team member
  • Ability to establish and maintain relationships within and outside TASK in a professional manner
  • Strong attention to detail
  • PC skills particularly WORD and EXCEL
  • Familiarity with basic smartphone apps
  • Ability to troubleshoot Level 1 technology issues

Required Credentials:

  • High school diploma or the equivalent with PC experience
