Trenton Area Soup Kitchen

From the Desk of the Executive Director

Hi [fname],

I just wanted to share some exciting news with you and to thank you all for your help in making TASK’s 30th Anniversary Celebration, SouperFest, a success!

First, the exciting news: TASK’s Adult Education Program (AEP) students recently wrote some powerful essays about democracy. Riverview Studios brought these words to life by filming the students reading excerpts from these essays and submitted a 3-minute video to the MacArthur Foundation "Looking at Democracy" Contest. Please vote for our video to win the contest! Public voting is available until 3pm on May 16th. Click here to watch the video. Instructions for voting can be found at the bottom of this email. Please help us spread the word.

Second, SouperFest was a wonderful success! On April 20th, TASK had approximately 1,800 folks join us in celebration of our 30th anniversary at the Trenton War Memorial. In addition to the celebration, this past week, TASK just concluded its SouperFest county-wide food drive, which resulted in a collection of over 18,000 cans of food that is currently being distributed to area food pantries and feeding programs through the Mercer Street Friends Food Bank. We would like to give special recognition to the Mercer Street Friends Food Bank and Rescue Mission of Trenton for all their help to make the event and drive an absolute success. We’d also like to recognize our event, food, and spadea sponsors: First Choice Bank, NRG Energy, Taft and Partners, ETS, The Pennington Quality Market, Saker Family ShopRites and The Times of Trenton. Thank you to all who helped make this celebration successful!

Right now we’re working on creating a photo/video gallery for SouperFest. If you have any photos or videos from the event you would like to share, we would love to post them! Please contact Jaime Parker at jparker@trentonsoupkitchen.org or (609) 695-5456 ext.105 for more information. Thanks again to everyone who was able to attend our celebration and thanks to everyone for allowing us to be able to serve the community for 30 years.

With gratitude,

Dennis Micai
