TASK Continues to Provide Food During Covid-19

As we continue to monitor the developments surrounding COVID-19, we have adapted our work to ensure individuals and families have consistent access to emergency meals and other vital services during the pandemic.

TASK continues to serve meals Monday – Friday from 10:30am – 2pm. and deliver meals in collaboration with community site partners.  Since we switched from sit-down dining to serving meals to-go style from our front doors, our kitchen has been busier than ever before serving more than 225,000 emergency meals to Mercer County residents – this represents a 90 percent increase in meal production from the prior year. 

We continue to constantly adjust our programs to tackle the new challenges brought by the pandemic to ensure that those who rely on us for services receive the help they need.  At the same time, we have also expanded our emergency food efforts, working with the City of Trenton and food banks across the county to reach more individuals and families who are experiencing hunger and food shortages during these trying times.   

In addition to providing meals five days a week, TASK’s self-sufficiency quality of life programs continues to operate during the pandemic.  Our Adult Education and Work Preparedness Program offers distance learning opportunities, enabling patrons to continue their education from home. The TASK Case Management team continues to work with patrons and connect people with needed social services in the area. And, our patron services office sustains TASK’s distribution of essentials including everything from masks to soap and shampoo.
